Welcome to Consulting Dog Health
My name is Jo Machin. I am the Director of The Consulting Health Group
health and psychology sites. Although based in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom, I am not a
native Yorkshire woman. I have lived, studied and worked in South Yorkshire for over 10 years,
but originate from Suffolk (East Anglia), United Kingdom.
I always had a huge love of animals, especially pets, and began my interest in psychology,
behaviour and natural health as a child. As a student my interests led me into a veterinary
nursing career, specialising in the small animal practice, and subsequently into animal behavioural
studies (where I first came across natural medicine for animals). I studied both dog and cat behaviour
and in 1995 developed a pet behaviour service, advising on behavioural problems in dogs and cats
and educating owners in general pet healthcare and welfare.
Whilst my animal health and behaviour work never stopped, my thirst for further knowledge and
studies also grew and I decided to follow my chosen subjects into the human field. I achieved
a BSC in Natural Health, Nutrition and Counselling and now also counsel on Health and Nutritional
(Orthomolecular) Psychology.
